"Samsung Galaxy S"

The Galaxy S is Samsung’s new move among smartphones, looking to offer some serious competition to the iPhone4. If you want to find out more, read the rest of this Samsung Galaxy S review.

The best features of the Samsung Galaxy S are most certainly the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and the large 4-inch touchscreen. Both screen and processor unleash incredible performance and make great use of the Android OS.

The Super AMOLED display has a respectable 480×800 resolution and very life-like colors. The contrast (500.000 to 1) rivals HD television standards, making the images pop out, sharp and crisp. The touchscreen part responds very well, with no perceptible delay between your commands and the phone’s reaction.

The 1GHz Hummingbird also has outstanding speed of execution, both in 3D rendering and video.

The chassis is very thin and light, and could be considered somewhat on the cheap side, more so than we would expect from a a device in this price range. This fact however is a small price to pay for so many features in such a light compact package. The micro-USB is covered by an innovative sliding cover that locks in place, and not the regular rubber flap many other phones use.

Default internal memory can be 8 or 16GB, and can take another 32GB, if you use a microSD card.

The 5 megapixel camera works quite well and also shoots 720P video, but there is no flash, so it suffers under low-light conditions.

Battery capacity is somewhat limited, in no small part because of the large Super AMOLED display. The phone could last the entire day on a good day, however if used actively without reducing screen brightness, the battery will not last more than a matter of hours.

All in all the phone matches impressive features with a not so great battery life and software, and a good 5MP camera that lacks any flash or light source. None of these are a deal breaker though, since it has a great look, fits well in any hand or pocket, and boasts a great screen, and so this Samsung Galaxy S review will give it a big thumbs up, as a possible next smartphone for you.
